Yes. Google's plans page lists the Free plan at $0 a month with a Google Account. What changed is which model free users mostly get. Google's help page says that from 9 October 2026 users without an AI subscription start on Auto: most prompts go to Flash-Lite, Google's fastest model, and prompts that need deeper reasoning may go to Flash or Pro. If smart model selection is turned off, free chats use Flash-Lite for all responses. Google AI Plus subscribers get an email with their own start date instead. We track this and other recent changes on our free AI plan changes page.
Per the plans page: access to the Flash-Lite model, image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas and Gems, plus limited Google Flow access, Gemini Notebook and 15 GB of storage shared across Gmail, Drive and Photos.
Google uses compute-based limits. They depend on how complex your prompt is, which models and features you use and how long the chat is. Google does not publish a number of free prompts a day; it says your limit refreshes every 5 hours until you reach a weekly limit, and that limits may change without notice. Plus is listed at 2x the usage of Free and Pro at 4x. The context window, meaning how much text one chat can hold, is listed as 32k tokens without a plan, 128k on Plus and 1 million on Pro and Ultra. Google also says some features may be unavailable to free users at busy times, and that free limits may be reduced before paid ones if capacity changes.
Google AI Plus is $4.99 a month (2x Free usage, Flash model, 400 GB storage). Google AI Pro is $19.99 a month (4x Free usage, Gemini 4 Argon, Pro and Flash models, 5 TB). Google AI Ultra starts at $99.99 a month for 5x Pro usage, with a $199.99 tier for 20x Pro usage. Prices differ by country: Google's Bangladesh page, for example, lists Plus at ৳600 and Pro at ৳2,500 a month. Gemini 4 Argon began rolling out on 13 October 2026 for Pro and Ultra subscribers; free users are not included.
People already in the Google ecosystem, since paid plans bundle storage and Google app features such as Gemini in Gmail and Vids on Google AI Plus. Developers can also use Google AI Studio, which the page says is free to start.
Google's own pages are not fully consistent: the plans page says paid plans are for ages 18 and over, while the limits page gives 13 in most countries (18 in the EEA, Switzerland and the UK), and the pages differ on which models Plus includes. Check your own account before you pay. This page is based on Google's published pages, not on our own benchmark of the product.
