The useful result

Approve an edited listing-image candidate only after its product details match the original.

  • Approve an edited listing-image candidate only after its product details match the original.
  • Inspect the supplied example and identify a result that fails the task.

Photoroom offers product-photo editing and listing-image workflows. The practical trick is to check truth before style: a cleaner scene is only useful if it still represents what the customer will receive. This lesson uses a real authorised photo or a fictional practice product and keeps a separate original throughout.

Reviewed on 9 October 2026 against the linked official sources. These instructions teach a bounded practice task; account features and limits can differ. Expected outputs are illustrative rather than captured AI runs. Keep original inputs and verify the result before using it.

Before you start

  • One original product photo you are permitted to process
  • Photoroom access with the required editing feature
  • The actual list of included items and product specifications

Bring your own attachment

Use an original product photo you own or have permission to edit. Upload it in Photoroom; no sample photo is supplied with this lesson.

1

Record the non-negotiable product facts

Keep the original photo untouched and write a small visual ledger. Include colour, capacity or size, label text and included accessories. These are facts to preserve, not visual suggestions.

Example / expected result

Illustrative example (not a recorded model result): Matte blue cup; 250 ml label; cup only; no spoon, saucer or lid included.

Check your result

Read the original label and confirm the included-items list before uploading.

2

Edit the background with a bounded brief

Upload the actual authorised photo in the supported workflow. Choose a simple background first. When using a prompt-enabled background feature, explicitly constrain accessories and the subject. Do not imply an attachment exists before it is uploaded.

Try this prompt
Use the uploaded cup photo as the product reference. Create a clean neutral background. Preserve shape, matte blue colour and 250 ml lettering. Add no spoon, saucer, lid or brand mark. Flag any product detail that cannot be preserved.

Example / expected result

Illustrative example (not a recorded model result): A simple background candidate with the original product unchanged; this is a target, not an observed generation.

Check your result

Confirm the correct photo is uploaded and inspect the feature’s actual credit or plan requirement.

3

Inspect product details at full size

Compare original and edited images side by side. Zoom into labels, handle edges, reflections and the base. Check whether a decorative prop implies an included item. Do this before evaluating which image looks more attractive.

Example / expected result

Illustrative example (not a recorded model result): An added saucer fails the ledger even if it makes the scene look polished.

Check your result

Verify every ledger item. Reject distorted lettering, changed finish or accessories absent from the offer.

4

Review the actual export

Export a copy within current account limits. Open the result at listing size and ask what a buyer would infer is included. Keep the original and the reviewed copy with the product record.

Example / expected result

Illustrative example (not a recorded model result): Approved candidate includes only the cup and preserves its real capacity label.

Check your result

Check crop, edge quality and visual implication in the exported file; do not rely on the editor preview alone.

When it goes wrong

Generated backgrounds may alter shadows, edges or apparent size. Simplify the background if preservation fails. Reflection and transparent materials need closer review. A clean edited photo does not verify a specification that was absent from the original product data.

Make it your own

Take one permitted product photo and write five visual checks. Compare two background versions and reject one if it changes a product fact.
