Project-aware coding agents and reviewable code changes

Meet Cursor

AI code editor and coding agent for project-aware changes, task delegation, review, and connected development workflows.

Open the project, give an agent a bounded task, and review the diff and checks before accepting changes.

Access and pricing: Free is $0 with limited Agent and Chat requests. Paid individual plans are Plus ($8 a month), Premium ($30), Super ($100) and Ultra ($200). Command permissions and every patch still need your review. This page reflects Cursor's pricing page and docs as read on 29 October 2026, not our own benchmark of the product.

What it does well

Cursor is an AI code editor with agents that work with your whole project, plus review and connected workflows. Per its pricing page, higher plans include cloud agents, code hosting and AI code reviews, and usage refreshes weekly with top-ups available if you run out.

Who gets the most from it

Developers who want AI assistance inside an editor, and who are happy to review diffs, will get the most from it. Teams can pool usage and add centralized billing and SSO.

Limits to check before you commit

Cursor's pricing page (read 29 October 2026) lists Free at $0 with limited Agent and Chat requests, Plus at $8 a month, Premium at $30 (4x Plus usage), Super at $100 (15x) and Ultra at $200 (50x), Teams from $30 per user a month and a custom Enterprise plan. Yearly prices appear only in Cursor's docs: $80 for Plus, $300 for Premium, $1,000 for Super and $2,000 for Ultra. Third-party models are billed separately at API list price on paid plans, and the docs list them as not available on Free; the pricing page notes that only Grok models are available on Plus.

Why you may see two different price lists

The older Hobby, Pro ($20 a month), Pro+ ($60) and Teams ($40 per user) names belong to Cursor's legacy plans, which Cursor's docs say "keep working as they are" for existing customers. New customers start on the current plans above, sold as part of The X Subscription that was announced on 12 October 2026. Ultra costs $200 in both lists but means different things. See our free AI plan changes page for the dates.

Ownership and plans update

Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, was acquired by SpaceX in a deal reported to have closed on August 14, 2026, and Cursor is being integrated with the SpaceXAI team. Its pricing page now lists Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra individual plans plus Teams and Enterprise, and Cursor's docs say it is sold as part of The X Subscription, one subscription for Grok, Cursor and X. Check the current pricing page before you subscribe.

Where it helps

  • An editor-centered workflow keeps project context and code review close together.

What to consider

  • Third-party models (Claude, GPT, Gemini) are not available on Free and are billed separately at API list price on paid plans
  • Command permissions and the final patch need review; a disabled button alone may not prevent duplicate server work
  • Plan names changed in October 2026, so older articles listing Hobby, Pro $20 and Pro+ $60 describe legacy plans
